At the end of the year everyone thinks about the passing time, if everything that had been planned was realized, if all the dreams has come true. Such thinking often leads to something new, new aspirations, desires and changes for the best.
But if we want something new to come into our life we need some free space. And we can do it by throwing out our old stuff. According to Feng Shui, new ideas and things appear only when all the corners are clean and all the unnecessary things are thrown away. This concept is also followed in the old Italian tradition. On the New Year's Eve when the clock strikes 12, Italians throw from the balcony their old furniture: tables, chairs, cabinets and other unnecessary items. People believe that throwing away their old furniture they also leave behind their former troubles, problems and disappointments and they meet New Year with a clear mind and new hopes.
This interesting idea can be adapted to the present context. Of course, no one will throw away a shelf or bedside table from the balcony because your neighbors won’t understand you, and also you will feel pity about it. But surely you should sort out your things and leave those you really need. Firstly, you will free some place for the new interior elements that will give a new look to your dwelling. Secondly, your used furniture can find a second life in your cottage or you can give it to some charity organization.
Don't feel sorry for the things - let them have a rest. New, modern, useful and comfortable furniture will replace the old one and will bring something new in your life.
